What’s New on Instagram
Instagram has evolved a lot since 2010 and has set a tone for how individuals use social media in their everyday lives. From sharing snippets of their everyday on their photo grid to posting 15 second videos to their Instagram Stories, Instagram has made it possible to connect with people, brands, companies, and causes around the globe with just the tap of your finger.
With Instagram’s newest feature – sharing feed posts to Stories – this is going to get even easier! Now if you come across something while scrolling through your feed that you deem sharable, it only takes a few clicks and it will be posted to Stories for everyone to see! Say goodbye to the days where you had to screenshot something to your camera roll so you could share it!
This new feature has a lot of potential, it could increase engagement on feed posts because now they can be shared with audiences you did not have direct access to. It also makes it easier for your audience to share your account while maintaining brand consistency because they no longer need to create their own post, and it will always link directly back to you. This opens up so many opportunities for brands and causes to get more recognition organically.
The ability for your feed posts to be shared more easily is a huge plus, but that’s not the only benefit! With this new feature, accounts will be able to push content that they want their followers to engage with by linking it in their stories. This provides two opportunities for their followers to see, engage and take action on posts that are important to the account.
4 Steps to Sharing Feed Posts to Instagram Stories
So how do you do this? It is quite simple actually!
Step 1: First, tap on the paper airplane beneath the post you would like to share.
Step 2: Choose the Add Post to Your Story option.
Step 3: Then it’s time to customize! Tap on the post to share it as is or you can add stickers, resize the photo, and even add text before posting!
Step 4: Post to your stories, sharing the content you love with those who follow along with you!
Keep in mind that only public profiles can use this feature. So if you maintain a private profile, you’re out of luck.
Who should use this feature?
Honestly, it is a feature that anyone can benefit from. It allows users the ability to publicly share what they care about rather than limiting them to those they can DM. It also allows brands, influencers, and companies a way to cross promote their work and content as well as enabling their audiences to do the same. For instance, if Target wanted to share all their sales on their Instagram Stories to better their chances of people seeing them, they can now go to their feed and click on the posts that they have already created and share them directly to Stories. Now their followers can see that they are having a sale and click on the photo, taking them directly to that post! In the end, it is another way in which this large Instagram community can connect and share their work with one another. Isn’t that what Instagram is all about?
